Mothers Day in Pohnpei
Mothers Day in Pohnpei was yesterday, they celebrate mothers a week earlier than we do, or at least that is what I was told. We were invited to a Mothers Day Party at the Nett's(Netch) branch on Saturday. It was so much fun. The Nett's branch is the branch that meets in the Noss, so first of all they had all the Mothers sit on the stand. Then the men and young men and young women served all the Mothers there food. Then the primary children sang songs to us and individually told each of there mothers that they loved them and why they loved them. It was so cute. They would stand up and say, in Pohnpein, I love you, mother, because you cook for me, or because you taught me how to read, or because you sing to me, etc. It was beautiful, then all the mothers and girls danced and of course they wanted to dance there favorite dances, "the boot scootin boogie" and "cotton-eye joe", we had so much fun, but we forgot our camera, so as soon as I get some pictures from Sis. Kjar and Sis. Vincent, I will post them.
