View from our Hotel room in Guam |
We went to couples conference in Guam. It was wonderful. We stayed in the Marriott with all the other Sr. Couples in the mission. It was our first opportunity to meet the other Sr. Couples from all the other Islands. What amazing Men and Women. We had meetings and learned from one another. Pres. Mecham and Sis. Mecham taught us also. the spirit was so strong.
I have to be honest, I felt very intimidated by all the experience in the room, and wondered why Alan and I were sent to this mission. All of the other couples are so prepared and qualified and have a lot to offer in talents. I felt we came up a little short compared to all of them, but I know that we were sent here to grow and learn from the Lord and if we get to help someone else along the way, what a blessing for us.
We got some great idea's of some things we could do on Pohnpei and we received some specific assignments and goals. As Sr. couples we set a goal to reactivate 338 members, this was divided up according to branch and district size on each island. Elder LeFevre and I and Elder and Sister Kjar are going to do our very best to help reactivate 102 members or more. We also have been ask to get all the GPS coordinates for all the members on the island, so that the church knows where the most members are for building church houses. This could prove to be our biggest challenge, since there are no such things as addresses on the island of Pohnpei, the only address you will get is " it's down the dirt road by the big tree around the corner from the big rock by the large coconut tree" you think I am kidding, I am not.
