YSA Activity, Talent Show

     On Saturday we had a Talent Show with our Institute and YSA. WOW, these young adults are amazing. I know I have said they are amazing before, but WOW.  We have been telling our young adults/ institute students to get their talents ready for our Talent Show. They have had 2 months and boy, did they come through. 7 of the 8 branches on the Island came through with talents. Some were individual talents, and some were group. We had Singing, Dancing, Skits, and more. We had over 75 in attendance and about 20 of them were non-members. Several of the branches did not have enough young adults to do what they wanted to do, so they went and got their less active and non members friends to join in. It was a great day and a great fellow shipping activity.

Merleen's Mission Call finally comes

      So back in November, we had 3 young ladies send in mision applications.  2 of them recieved their mission calls about 1 month ago, Irene & Meagen. We waited and waited, and finally sent off an e-mail to see if anyone in Guam had heard anything about Merleens mission application and low and behold, it was sitting on a desk in Japan and had somehow never been sent on to Salt Lake. Well, Japan sent it and we finally reiceved it last Thursday.
      As soon as we got it, we hopped in the car and drove out to UH to give it to Merleen and here are the pictures of her opening her call.

The Power of the Sealing Power

    We lost 2 dear friends this week. Kent & Shirley Bass. They had been together 50 years, were married civilly and later were sealed in the Temple. All their children were sealed to them. They lived the Gospel to the fullest. Shirley use to send me comments on the blog and say how much she and Kent had always wanted to go on a Mission, but because of health reasons they could not. They finally got their mission call, they are assigned to labor in the spirit world. They died 21 hours apart. Shirley always said that if Kent went first, he better turn right around and come back and get her because she was not going to be here without him.  He did.
    We shared their story with the Epina family at FHE,this week. This is Marleen's (the missionary)family. Her father died while she was in the MTC and her mother and family have been hearing the missionary lessons. Monday night Elder LeFevre & I taught a lesson on Temples and the Sealing Power. We taught them that even though Noah(Bro. Epina) had died, they could still be sealed as husband and wife and their children could still be sealed to them. The spirit was strong as we shared Kent & Shirleys story with them and testified of the truthfulness of the Gospel and Temples. They had a lot of questions, we answered them. by the time we were ready to end the lesson, we had over 40 family members there, the majority  of which are investigating the church, except for Marleen's 2 brothers Patterson & Jack. They are already members.
   I think, Kent & Shirley are probably teaching Noah right now. I think they probably were smiling as we talked about them to this family, and knowing them they probably were saying "Oh now Melanie(Sis. LeFevre), we are not anything special." But they are, they have always been a great example to us, of how husbands and wives should love one another, and take care of one another. Thank You, Kent & Shirley and your amazing family.
   I know this Gospel is True, I know the Temple is the House of God and it is there, and only there, That the Priesthood authority can seal families forever. Our relationships with our families does not have to end with this earth life, It can carry on in the Eternities, if we all do our part, but only if we have had the Sealing Ordinance ourselves. I know Heaven will not be Heaven without my family and especially without  my Alan(Elder LeFevre).

Senoir Missionary Conference in Guam

We have been in Guam for the last week, we have been at Sr. Missionary Conference. We flew to Guam last Saturday ( Jan 5) and spent the week, learning how to be better missionaries. It was inspiring. As I get pictures from other Sr. Couples that were there, I will post them. Our camera stopped working. We are going to order a new one on Amazon, because, even though it is still under warranty  there is no where to get it fixed, and we don't want to stop letting all of you know what is going on here on Pohnpei.
      We were able to snag a few pictures of a happy reunion with our Elder Vance, who was transferred to Guam several months ago. He is doing well and has had several baptisms, including one tonight, I wish we could have stayed one more day, so we could have attended. Dad & Mom Vance, you can be proud of the fine missionary son you have.  There are no coincidences  we had gone to do some shopping on Monday, and we were waiting for Elder & Sisters Eakins, while they were at the Dr.'s, and in came Elder Vance and Elder Kata. I about fell over, trying to run and catch them, before they went into the store to do their grocery shopping. We had a great visit.
     We learned a lot of new ideas that will help us to be better at doing all the assignments we have. The spirit taught us the things we need to change, so we can be worthy to have him with us all the time and be more effective missionaries.
    We love this work, we love our fellow missionaries, we love our mission president and his wife, Pres. & Sister Mecham. They are inspired and know exactly what to say to motivate us to do better. We all can do better with whatever callings, or assignments we have, we all can be better "member" missionaries. You are vital to the work. Keep telling others about this wonderful Gospel and how much you love it. Keep living your testimony. May the Lord bless us ALL in this work.

Dedicated to my AMAZING Relief Society Sisters at home

         For the past year of 2012, my Relief Society Sisters in my home ward, have been gathering dresses, skirts, blouses, in all sizes from 12 month to 99 years old. Well we received 4 huge boxes of these clothes about 2 weeks ago. Today we had the first opportunity to give some of them out.
         Meagan & Irene are both going on missions in March. They are both going to the Fiji Suva mission and both needed clothing to take on their missions. Today, they came over and tried on the women's clothing. They loved them and both were able to find several outfits that will work for their missions and fit them perfectly.

        THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to my sweet, amazing sisters. Your clothes that you have so very carefully collected for the last year, will be going to Fiji, with 2 young sister missionaries, that would not have had much to take if it weren't for you. I love you all and so do Meagan & Irene. Enjoy the fashion show.

        In the next several weeks, we will be giving out the children's clothing also, watch for the pictures of that.
